| JUNE UPDATE The Central Coast Chapter have decided to put some information together to advise members what is happening for the 2009 AGM. I will try and provide regular updates between now and the AGM to keep everyone informed. Main Venue - Gloucester Holiday Park – Phone (02) 6558 1720 Tracy, Adam and Shrek have already made a trip to Gloucester to start organising different things for the AGM and to check out the accommodation situation. As at the beginning of April all cabins in the caravan park have been booked of which AGA members were able to secure 11 out of the 17 available. After a bit of reorganising by the caravan park to appease some regular campers, there are 2 powered sites still available. Again AGA members were able to secure a large percentage of the 90 powered sites. There are acres of non-powered campsites available. Many of these sites are adjacent to powered sites and the caravan park has indicated that they are quite happy for AGA members to piggyback the power off one another. Many of the powered sites are large enough for 2 campers and again the park is happy if we double up on sites. Unfortunately both the bunkhouses have been booked. If you have any queries please phone the caravan park (phone 02 6558 1720) or drop Adam or Tracy an email and we can see what we can do. Alternate accommodationOut of the motels / hotels the Buckets Way Motel (phone 02 65582588) is the pick. It has 28 rooms of which some rooms have already been booked by AGA members. Negotiations are continuing with the motel to see if we can obtain a discount on the already very reasonable room rate. Details of other accommodation include: Avon Valley Inn Hotel - 82 Church Street. Gloucester - Phone: 02 6558 1016. This is your typical pub style accommodation consisting of 6 rooms with shared facilities. The Roundabout Inn - 28 Church Street. Gloucester - Phone: 02 6558 1816. Offering small very basic ensuite rooms with A/c, TV, tea and coffee making facilities. All the above motels / hotels are in easy walk of the caravan park and Soldiers Club which is the venue for the AGM dinner. Easter is an extremely busy time in Gloucester, so if you are thinking of coming I would try to arrange your accommodation sooner than later. If you have any questions please feel free to contact Adam, Tracy or Mike. Hope to see you there Central Coast Chapter AGM Organising Committee JULY UPDATE Over the long weekend in June a number of Central Coast members visited Gloucester to undertake some research for the 2009 AGM. So what have we got to report? Accommodation § Gloucester Holiday Park All cabins and powered sites at the caravan park have been booked. However there is acres of unpowered camping and the caravan park is willing to allow us piggy back power between members. If you want to piggy back power you will need to bring your own extension cords and identify a member that is willing to share their power. www.gloucesterholidaypark.com § Bucketts Way Motel This is the best motel that is located within walking distance from all venues. Plenty of rooms still available and a discount may be offered if enough AGA members book in. www.bucketts.com § The Roundabout Inn This is a pub that has motel style units out the back. It is very popular with motorcyclist and is currently being refurbished. The rooms are small but all contain an ensuite and air conditioning. AGA members have been offered a 10% discount that made it $54/night a double when we stayed there on the weekend. The pub is also an agent for a local B&B that is also within walking distance to all venues. www.roundaboutinn.com.au § Avon Valley Inn This is typical pub accommodation with shared facilities. AGM Meeting The AGM will be held in the Bowling Club auditorium. AGM Dinner The AGM dinner will be held in the Soldiers Club Auditorium. We tried the menu that will be provided at the AGM and found the food plentiful and to be of excellent quality. We are certain that no one will be disappointed. Other Meals As the Soldiers Club is the only licensed venue open on Good Friday we will be dining on fish, chips and salad in the auditorium, complete with our own bar. We have also negotiated with the local Apex Club to cater breakfasts on the Saturday, Sunday and Monday as well as a roast dinner on Sunday night. The decision was made to utilise a local service club so that the AGA could provide support to the Gloucester community. Many of the cafes will be open over the whole Easter weekend, so there should always be somewhere to eat. If you have any questions please feel free to contact Adam, Tracy or Mike. Hope to see you there. Central Coast Chapter AGM Organising Committee |
