The Snowy Ride – 6th November
SRV - Snowy Ride Volunteer
Don’t blame me, I told you the clock was
ticking! Well folks here we are getting much closer to the pointy end of things
as far as the 2010 Snowy Ride is concerned. Things appear to be progressing
okay, and as per usual we know we’ll be required to do stuff but it’s very
likely we won’t actually get a whole lot of detail about what’s required until
the very last minute. Situation normal for our Snowy Ride participants – that
has a familiar ring to it.
As has been mentioned before, you’ll need to
register for the event itself. Just check out the Snowy Ride website to
download a form or you can register on line, which makes the process easy and
painless. While you’re looking at the website you’ll be able to see this year’s
merchandise and order on line as well if you want to. We do find, however, that
we get looked after pretty well for merchandise purchases (particularly if we’re
there with the kids for the Thursday night meet and greet) so that’s something
to keep in mind. The one exception would be the “Men’s 10th Anniversary Snowy
Ride Jacket” – it’ll be special, and if you want one make sure by placing an
online order as soon as you can.
The other matter that’s been talked about
before is accreditation for our participants to work with children. Previous
accreditations will be valid and forms for accreditation for new participants
will be getting lodged right about now. If you need forms please contact Graham
urgently as we have very little time left to organise this particular matter.
Keep in mind you don’t have to be accredited to be a part of our contingent. If
you have your heart set on carrying one of the children on your beautiful
Goldwing, you’ll certainly need it. We have lots of other very deserving people
(carers, helpers and reluctant mums and dads) who all need to have a Goldwing
experience and requirements aren’t as rigid for them. Sometimes we end up
having to put quite a bit of effort into getting all the parents on bikes (they
tend to hang back, "it's for the kids" etc, etc – we’ve heard it all before!)
Invariably they absolutely love it and that makes everybody happy!!
Anyway, that’s where we are up to so far.
The majority of our contingent choose to stay in Jindabyne even though the event
is based in Thredbo.
We are happy to endorse:
We understand accommodation is filling up
quickly this year, so, if you’re planning to join us organise your stay now.
We hope you’re planning to be part of this
year’s event.
