Australian GoldWing Association
Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to All
Program of Events 2016 AGM.
As of this date in November,2015, there are still ample camp sites, grassed and with ensuites still available at Happy Wanderer Tourist Park in Torquay in Hervey Bay and with all cabins taken and a waiting list for cancellations, anyone wanting rooms in Hervey Bay should look further afield to find them, there is plenty of accommodation in Hervey Bay, just try to get as close to Torquay or Urangan to save having to travel any distance.
What's happening during AGM week;
We have planned: A ride to take the Mayor for a ride before Friday and in planning to take a ride to a local elderly institution to give some rides(still in planning at this stage).
Making enquiries to display some bikes in the the local shopping centre for a few hours to help promote the week-end and light parade.
Gayndah AGA members,Tanya and Rick Van Oosten will be taking a ride on Friday morning to Mt.Perry to a pub that Tanya owns to lunch there and return in the afternoon, a not too long ride which should be good,Rick to lead ride.
Friday afternoon will see a reunion of some of the older members that were there in 1999 to meet and renew old acquaintances at 1.30 pm under the Marquee opposite the camp kitchen behind the main office.
The Area representatives meeting will be at 3.00 pm under the Marquee and from 5.30 pm the dinner people who purchased tickets for the Friday night dinner will be served by the "Meals on Wheels" crew which is a two course meal.
After dinner it is time to form up for the "Light Parade" departing at 7.00 pm to travel along the Esplanade to Scarness park for judging. and afterwards return to Happy Wanderer where we might have another un- official light parade around the Park.
Saturday morning will see the local Lion's Club cater bacon and egg rolls for those who have paid and then time to form up for the Grand Parade again finishing at Scarness Park for judging and later again under the Marquee the actual AGM will be held around 3.00 pm and next is the time from around 5.15 pm to transport people to the evening dinner at the "Boat Club" via two 25 seater buses returning until all are transported to the club.
On arrival at the club, you will be entertained by a 5 person band until dinner is served around 6.00 pm and the nights awards will follow and when over, the band will again entertain. This group specialises in 60-70-80's songs and should be suitable to all.
The room we have is the "Maloo Room" and there is a balcony overlooking the Marina for the smokers to retire to we their urge takes them.
We have the room until 11.00 pm so should be time for those to wish to dance to do so and for those who wish to play the pokies, that is also available.
As people wish to return to their lodgings, they will be returned when sufficient numbers wish to,but if only a couple of people, the club provides a courtesy bus.
Sunday breakfast is BYO and there is a tour riding to Bunderberg and for those who nominate and pay, a tour of the Bunderberg Rum Distillery is an hour long tour with a tasting session at the end and lunch will be at a local pub which will be reserved.
Evening meal is left up to the individual, choice of many Pubs,Clubs and delivery to the Park of Pizza, Chinese etc and can be shared at the Marquee if the need takes you.
Come Monday, if needed, a local ride will take place.
Of course there is so much to do and so much to see in Hervey Bay, people may wish to go off and do their own thing and do highly recommend a trip to Fraser Island which is a great day out with pickup at your lodgings and also bus back there included in most tours.
Will supply more up dates as the time get closer.
